Second Take Tuesday – Discipline, Trust, Legacy

Some conversations remind you why you started this whole thing in the first place. This one? It meant everything to me.

My guest this week was Coach Randy Doege—a man who’s played a massive role in shaping who I am today. And I don’t say that lightly. His influence on my life runs deep. Talking to him on the podcast wasn’t just an interview. It was a full-circle moment.

Coach isn’t just a guy who’s been around the game for decades. He’s the kind of leader every young person should cross paths with at least once in their life. Honest. Steady. No ego. No fluff. The kind of man who teaches you more by how he lives than by what he says.

We talked about raising sons, coaching through hardship, and staying true to your word when it’s way easier to just walk away. It made me reflect on how rare that kind of presence is. Especially today, when everything’s fast, filtered, and disposable.

Coach raised two elite athletes—but what stood out most was how much he poured into other people’s kids. The ones who didn’t have structure. The ones who needed someone to believe in them before they could believe in themselves.

This was one of the most meaningful conversations I’ve ever had on the podcast. It reminded me that leadership is simple, but it’s not easy. And the best kind of legacy isn’t loud—it’s lived.

Things I Learned from Coach Doege

  • Discipline is the quiet form of love. Not flashy, but felt.

  • Trust isn’t built in speeches. It’s built in moments.

  • Legacy is what lives in others long after you're gone.

Your Weekly Jolt

You know the drill. Keep your helmet on.

Forget the soft talk. Forget the curated highlight reel.
This week, be the man who stays when it’s hard, when it’s quiet, when it’s thankless.

Show up. Lock in. Don’t flinch.

Be a walking standard in a world of shortcuts.

🎤 Next Week: I sit down with Will Harris, the godfather of regenerative farming and the founder of White Oak Pastures. We talk about meat, monoculture, multinational giants, and what it takes to reclaim the land, the animals, and your soul from the grip of industrial ag.

This one is raw, grounded, and confrontational—in the best way.

Thanks for reading Second Take Tuesday
